Humans and dogs share many traits, including several nutritional requirements for healthy living. Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fiber, and antioxidants are among those. Below is a description of some healthy organic treats, whose nutritional profile provides the same benefits for you and your dog.
Want to share a tasty and loving moment with your dog? Go ahead and share a treat!
Apples are an excellent source of vitamin C, as well as fiber for us and our dogs. Depending on the varieties, their peel can also be rich in polyphenols with antioxidant properties. Apples are low in protein and fat, making them the perfect snack for senior dogs and senior humans! Always be sure to remove the seeds first as these should not be ingested. Great to have them raw or pureed but never add sugar, as your dog can’t eat it.
Bananas are a nutritious delight! High in potassium, vitamin B6, biotin, fiber, and magnesium and therefore a great treat for us and our dogs. They are low in cholesterol and sodium, but because of their high sugar content, bananas should be given as a treat only (and the same applies to us!)
Blueberries are a superfood rich in antioxidants, which prevent cell damage in humans and dogs alike. They’re packed with vitamin K, C, fiber, and polyphenols that besides being responsible for the blueberry color can help cognitive performance, and have anti-inflammatory properties. Organic blueberries are a great training treat and a very nutritious treat in general.
Carrots are an excellent low-calorie treat. They owe their orange color to the presence of large amounts of beta-carotene, used to produce vitamin A in our and our dog’s bodies. They are high in fiber and rich in vitamins K1 and vitamin B6. When given raw, carrots can be a fun and crunchy treat.
Green peas are a great and nutritious treat! They are a good source of vitamins ( vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B2, B3, and B6), and minerals (Copper, Manganese, Phosphorous, Zinc, Iron, Magnesium, and Potassium), and are rich in protein and high in fiber. You can feed them fresh or frozen peas (that have been thawed) but not canned peas as these will most probably contain sodium that your dog should not consume.
So, what do apples, blueberries, green peas, bananas, humans, dogs, and LOONAWELL all have in common?
All these fruits and vegetables have the same great benefits for dogs and their owners, and they’re also all present in LOONAWELL’s healthy and tasty organic treats!
