If a Moment Is Repeated Often Enough, It Deserves Better Design

Treating is one of the oldest languages shared between dogs and their people. It celebrates learning, marks affection, and punctuates everyday life with joy. A reward after returning home. A small bite during training. Something offered simply because the moment feels warm and complete.

Yet it is also one of the most overlooked parts of canine nutrition.

Meals are often considered carefully. Ingredients are read. Questions are asked. Owners compare proteins, digestion, sourcing, sensitivities. Rewards, by contrast, are often chosen more freely, with less scrutiny and lower expectations. This is understandable. For many years, the market offered abundance in treats, but far fewer options that truly united ingredient quality with the pleasure a reward should bring.

And so a quiet compromise became normal: nutrition in the bowl, indulgence in the hand.

At LOONAWELL, we never believed that divide was necessary. If a moment is repeated often enough, it deserves better design.

We work in the calm space of prevention, where small decisions made consistently over time often matter more than dramatic gestures made once. What a dog consumes daily, even in modest amounts, contributes to the rhythm of wellbeing. This does not require obsession. It requires thoughtfulness.

A reward, after all, is not only food. It is communication. It is trust. It is reinforcement. It is one of the most frequent touchpoints between dog and owner. To treat that moment as nutritionally irrelevant always felt like a missed opportunity.

Not because every bite must be serious. But because pleasure and standards should never have been opposites. That belief shaped what came next.

On May 6th, LOONAWELL introduces three new pâtés, each created to bring more reflection, more quality, and more pleasure to one of the most repeated rituals in a dog’s life.

Composed in Zurich, made in small production runs, and built around ingredients selected with purpose, our new patés represent three distinct expressions of modern rewarding.

Cod & Pumpkin Paté

We begin with cod fillets from Iceland.

Cod is a naturally lean white fish, rich in high-quality protein while remaining low in fat, making it especially suited to dogs who benefit from lighter nourishment or careful weight management.

It naturally provides vitamin B12 for normal nervous system function, vitamin B6 for metabolism, selenium for cellular protection, phosphorus for bones and teeth, and omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to skin, coat, and overall wellbeing.

Around it, we build balance.

Organic pumpkin brings gentle fibre that helps regulate digestion and stool quality, alongside naturally occurring carotenoids such as beta-carotene. Chickpeas contribute additional protein, folate, manganese, iron, and a satisfying structure. Ginger and coriander were selected both for flavour and for their long culinary association with digestive ease. Rosemary contributes naturally occurring antioxidant compounds, while olive oil provides monounsaturated fats and a softer finish.

The result is a pâté shaped by finesse: clean, light, and nutritionally meaningful.

Lamb & Purple Potato Paté

We begin with organic minced lamb from our trusted Swiss supplier.

Lamb offers rich flavour and deep satisfaction, while naturally providing highly bioavailable iron, zinc, vitamin B12, and quality protein that supports muscle maintenance and vitality. It is a protein many dogs instinctively relish.

Yet indulgence alone was never the goal.

We pair it with purple potato, valued for its naturally occurring anthocyanins, the pigments responsible for its rich colour and widely studied for their antioxidant properties. Purple potato has long featured in nutrient-dense traditional diets, including in regions often referenced for exceptional longevity. Alongside our Golden Shield Pâté, this is one of two recipes shaped by the principles of longevity-inspired nutrition.

Raspberries contribute vitamin C and polyphenols, antioxidant compounds that help protect cells from oxidative stress and support everyday vitality. Thyme brings aromatic precision together with naturally occurring plant compounds traditionally valued for digestive comfort and microbial balance. Olive oil rounds the composition with softness, palatability, and beneficial monounsaturated fats.

The philosophy behind this recipe is simple: nourishment for the long term need not feel austere. It can feel generous, satisfying, and beautifully made.

Golden Shield Paté

Our third recipe takes a different path, and perhaps the most ambitious one.

Golden Shield is a new vegan paté shaped by longevity-inspired nutrition: the idea that wellbeing is often built quietly, through intelligent ingredients repeated over time.

Created to express our belief that modern canine nutrition can be thoughtful, sophisticated, and deeply functional without relying on convention.

At its foundation are organic chickpeas and sweet potato. Chickpeas provide plant protein, fibre, manganese, folate, and slow-release carbohydrates that support steady energy and digestive rhythm. Sweet potato contributes beta-carotene, vitamin C, potassium, and gentle fibres long valued for digestive comfort and gastrointestinal resilience.

From there, the composition becomes more strategic.

We add oat beta-glucan, a naturally occurring soluble fibre widely recognised for its role in gut health, microbiome support, metabolic balance, and immune function.

Shiitake mushrooms bring another layer of nutritional intelligence, contributing beta-glucans, ergothioneine, and naturally occurring compounds increasingly studied for cellular protection and healthy aging.

Turmeric contributes curcuminoids, long valued for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Raspberries provide vitamin C and polyphenols that help protect cells from oxidative stress. Nutritional yeast adds naturally occurring B vitamins together with a savoury depth many dogs find deeply appealing.

Thyme and olive oil complete the recipe with aromatic lift, beneficial fats, and elegance of finish.

Alongside our Lamb & Purple Potato Paté, Golden Shield is one of two recipes shaped by the principles of longevity-inspired nutrition: The belief that health is often supported not by one miracle ingredient, but by wise daily patterns repeated over time.

This is not a recipe designed to imitate meat. It is a recipe designed to stand proudly on its own merits. Modern. For long-term health. Quietly bold.

A reward for owners who understand that the future of care is prevention, consistency, and better choices made often.

These recipes now leave our kitchen and enter something far more meaningful, your everyday life.

How they are used, when they are offered, and the moments they become part of will be entirely your own. A reward after a walk. A pause during the day. A small gesture of affection, repeated over time.

Because in the end, it is not only what we create that matters, but how it is lived ❤️.

FAQs

How are these patés intended to be used?

Our pâtés are designed to be flexible. They can be offered as a reward, used during training, or simply served as a small moment of connection between meals.

They can also be used as a topper, meaning a small amount added on top of your dog’s main meal to enhance flavour and variety. This works equally well with kibble, fresh meals, or raw diets.

The goal is not to prescribe a single use, but to support everyday life with your dog.

How should the patés be stored?

Unopened, the patés can be stored at room temperature.

Once opened, they should be kept refrigerated and can be enjoyed for up to 4 weeks when properly sealed. As with all fresh products, keeping them well closed helps preserve both quality and flavour.

How do these patés differ from traditional dog treats?

Each LOONAWELL pâté is built around a simple principle: every ingredient should have a nutritional purpose.

From high-quality proteins to carefully selected plant ingredients, each component is chosen not only for flavour, but for what it contributes, whether that is supporting digestion, providing essential nutrients, or adding beneficial compounds.

The result is a different way of rewarding: one where every bite carries both pleasure and intention.

Can these patés replace a meal?

No. These patés are not intended to replace a complete meal, but to complement it. They are best understood as part of a broader feeding system, one that includes complete nutrition and thoughtful supplementation where needed.

Are these pâtés suitable for puppies and senior dogs?

Yes, the recipes can be used across life stages. Their texture and digestibility make them particularly easy to incorporate. As always, adjustments in quantity should reflect the individual needs of your dog.
